Quarterly Book Club

Myriad Yoga is excited to bring back our Book Club! Join us each season as we explore a new book together and its relation to the practice of Yoga. Reading a book alone provides a singular experience. As we gather in community and discuss a book at length, we provide opportunities for new insights, ideas and perspectives!

Join us on Sunday, March 22nd, as we gather to discuss Emergent Strategy by adrienne maree brown.

“adrienne maree brown (she/they) is growing a garden of healing ideas. Informed by decades of movement facilitation, somatics, science fiction scholarship and doula work, adrienne has nurtured Emergent Strategy, Pleasure Activism, Radical Imagination and Loving Correction as ideas and practices for transformation. adrienne is the NYT-bestselling author/editor of several published texts, a ritual singer-songwriter, co-generator of the Lineages of Change Tarot Deck, and co-creator/host of How to Survive the End of the World podcast with Autumn Brown. adrienne’s latest book Loving Corrections is now available from AK Press.” Learn more at https://adriennemareebrown.net/

Emergent Strategy is adrienne maree brown’s first solo book and has become a movement best seller since 2017. ” It is a guidebook for getting in right relationship with change, using our own nature and that of creatures beyond human as our teachers.”

Participants will read the book on their own before March 22nd. A full discussion and review of the book will be held together as a group. Myriad recommends that books are acquired through the library, second hand, or purchased through a locally-owned bookstore when possible.

Marta Gruber

Marta has a passion for helping individuals connect with and feel empowered in their own bodies. Their own practice has ebbed and flowed with different emphasis and styles throughout their life, and they feel that the same permission should be offered to their students. She believes that exploration is an important part of finding acceptance in our bodies and that rest is a powerful form of rebellion. It is these beliefs that encourage a sense of softness, playfulness and affirming support with every yoga class they lead.

Whether leading a restorative practice or an active vinyasa flow, Marta strives to bring a down-to-earth, genuine approach to her teaching, hoping to help forge grounded confidence in each student’s practice. With over 18 years of experience practicing yoga, her whimsical sense of humor and vast knowledge of the practice is woven into each class she teaches, opening the door for students to more deeply discover connections between poses, themselves, and the community around them.

Marta Gruber, a white woman with dark red shoulder length hair wears an amber and green tie-dyed tank top with green leggings while smiling for the camera. She sits in a kneeling position with her hands on her lap.
