“Each night, when I got to sleep, I die. And the next morning, when I wake up, I am reborn.”
– Mahatma Ghandi
The Structure Behind the Themes
Here at the studio, we center our classes each week around unified programming that each Teacher works from. The weekly themes tie back to a monthly theme, that ties back to the time of year, that ties back to an annual structure. There’s a lot of thought put into the programming, and inpsiration is pulled from a variety of resources: Ayurveda, Yogic texts and related philosophies, and natural patterns in nature. For the student, this brings a sense of connection between one class and the next, and allows Students to receive different perspectives on similar teachings. Connected with these themes are poses that are meant to stimulate thought or to act as metaphor. A passive or more gentle posture is paired each week with a more active or alive posture, to see the theme from a variety of perspectives.
Spring is a time of Awakening
Sping is like a constant awakening and rebirth. The world is renewed after the long sleep of winter. How can we also experience a sense of awakening within us? Spring is a reminder that we can always be open to more, that we can always begin anew, and that there is always more to learn.
Each theme this month is connected to a sense of awakening. To awaken is “to rouse from sleep.” Each week we will utilize themes and postures that encourage us to rouse from the sleep of winter, and to awaken the sleepiness of the mind. In this episode, Marta and Zoe take you on a deep dive into the structure behind the programming, to help you understand the deeper meaning behind the classes.
